Doorway welcomes Barratt Homes Bristol MD to its base in Chippenham to share its plans for a brand-new project made possible with the housebuilders’ £26,000 donation

A new allotment, delivering a community space, hands-on activities and all the wellbeing benefits of being out in nature – is being launched by the homelessness charity Doorway this Autumn, and it’s been made possible by a donation by Barratt Homes Bristol. Barratt Homes MD Rob Hart joined Doorway’s CEO Jo Kitching and her team.

The charity, which is based at the Citadel in Chippenham, offers hot meals, food and toiletry parcels, and one-to one support and advice, as well as free access to showers, laundry rooms, mobile phones, newspapers, and social and support activities (e.g. via a woman’s group or football, art, music or writing and IT sessions and more).

Kitching says supporters like Barratt recognise the power of the work the charity does and donations like this one make a significant difference to those they support. “This donation will not only cover our allotment project but contribute to other costs including food, rough sleeping packs and volunteer training costs. Barratt also donated over 20 mobile phones which are already being hugely appreciated.”
